Microsoft official details: XPSP3 details

  

Windows XP SP3 is expected to be officially released this week. Last weekend, Microsoft released a detailed preview white paper called "Overview of Windows XP Service Pack 3" on the official website to explain the contents and other details of XP SP3.

Microsoft emphasizes that XP SP3 includes all the upgrade patches for Windows XP, as well as a few new features. Installing SP3 does not significantly change the user experience of using Windows XP. Users should not expect SP3 to bring some features of Vista to Windows XP.

XP SP3 includes all the security, performance and stability upgrades/patches since Windows XP was released, not including IE7. The main new features of SP3 include:

Windows Product Activation Mode Change: When installing SP3 integrated with Windows XP, you can choose not to enter the serial number to install, and then enter the serial number later. Activate.

Windows XP SP3 can be upgraded through Windows Update or the Microsoft Download Center. When incrementally upgrading via Windows Update, the download capacity is only about 70MB. The full SP3 installation package has a capacity of 580MB.

SP3 can be upgraded or a new installation of Windows XP SP1, SP2 basis, including support for all versions of Media Center Edition, Tablet PC Edition, including. However, only 32-bit x86 version is supported. The upgrade package required for x64 version of Windows XP is Windows Server 2003 SP2.
