How to deal with wireless network connection failures (2)

4. The wireless network can communicate normally, but cannot communicate with the Ethernet connected to the wireless router

Symptom

Wireless The client can communicate normally with the wireless router, but cannot communicate with the Ethernet connected to the wireless router.

Failure Analysis

The cause of the failure may be:

(1) The LAN (LAN) port connection is faulty.

(2) The IP address is set incorrectly.

Troubleshooting

The following solutions are available:

(1) Check that the LAN port is properly connected to the Ethernet by checking the LAN indicator. The crossover cable should be used to connect the LAN port to the Ethernet hub.

(2) Check if the wireless network and Ethernet are in the same IP address segment, only hosts in the same IP address segment can communicate.

5. When you dial a cordless phone, it will cause strong interference to the wireless network.

Symptoms

Whenever you make a cordless call, the wireless network signal becomes very weak. It often leads to link interruption.

Fault Analysis

Since both cordless phones and IEEE 802.11b operate in the 2.4 GHz band, when dialing a cordless phone, there is a strong interference to the wireless network.

Troubleshooting

The general solution is to stop using a cordless phone or change the channel used by the wireless network.

6. When the network environment changes, the access cannot be performed normally.

Symptom

A wireless network is built in both the office and the home. While in the office, the laptop can normally access the company's wireless network; however, when I get home, I find that I can't connect to the wireless network.

Fault Analysis

The causes of this fault may be as follows:

(1) The SSID (Service Set Identifier) configuration is not changed in time. Different wireless networks use different SSIDs. If the SSID is not configured correctly, the AP cannot be pinged. And the laptop will ignore the AP and look for a new AP according to the SSID configuration.

(2) WEP encryption. If the WEP key used is different, the wireless client cannot connect to the new wireless AP. If the WEP configuration is incorrect, the wireless client cannot obtain an IP address from the DHCP server. If a static IP address is used, the wireless client cannot even ping the AP's IP address.

(3) IP address information. In general, the wireless AP will automatically assign an IP address to the wireless client. If the wireless client's IP address is manually set, the client will not be able to communicate with the new AP.

Troubleshooting

The following solutions are available:

(1) When accessing a new wireless network, change the SSID setting of the client in time.

(2) If access to the wireless network requires the use of a key, when accessing the new wireless network, the key of the network needs to be obtained first for access.

(3) Normally, the IP address assigned by the wireless AP is sufficient. If you want to use a static IP address, you must ensure that the static IP address and the IP address of the wireless AP are on the same network segment.

7. The settings are all correct, but the wireless network cannot be connected.

Symptoms

Network settings are made according to other users in the wireless network, including WEP encryption, SSID and IP address (automatically obtain IP address), and the wireless signal is displayed as full, but cannot access the wireless network.

Failure Analysis

In this case, the network administrator may set the MAC address filtering for the wireless AP, allowing only the specified MAC address to access the wireless network, and rejecting the failure. Authorized users to ensure the security of the wireless network.

Troubleshooting

You can contact the management and tell him the MAC address of your wireless network card. Please add this MAC address to the list of allowed MAC addresses.

8. Laptops use wireless access to the home network to achieve Internet sharing

Home network uses "ADSL Modem + Broadband Router" to achieve Internet sharing, No PPPoE dialing is required. New laptops cannot access the wireless network for Internet sharing.

Fault Analysis

Wireless APs generally have only one LAN interface. Therefore, when a wireless AP is connected to the network, it will occupy the network interface used by the original host, unless the broadband router has more ports. Otherwise, the wireless AP cannot be connected to the broadband router together with the original host, thereby realizing the sharing of the Internet connection.

Troubleshooting

If the broadband router does not have more ports available, you can purchase a wireless router, the WAN port is connected to the broadband router, the LAN port is connected to the host, and it is a laptop. Provide wireless access. Alternatively, the SOHO switch + wireless AP can be used to connect the SOHO switch to the broadband router, and then connect the wireless AP and host to the SOHO switch.
