What WinXP image? How to build it yourself?

A lot of times we make system images for the convenience of installing the system, and mirroring is such a function, but the unobstructed image is not so easy to make. In the past, we used Ghost's Win98/Me operating system image file, which can be cloned unimpeded on other computers, which greatly saves the time of repeatedly installing the operating system on multiple computers, which is especially useful for office and Internet cafes. However, WinXP and Windows Server 2003 will recognize computer hardware devices. Once the hardware changes greatly (for example, replacing the motherboard or CPU), their image files cannot be cloned into other computers for normal use.

In fact, there is a way to make WinXP Ghost image file suitable for any computer. Below, I will use WinXP as an example to demonstrate how to operate, Windows Server 2003 operation method is the same.

Implementation principle: Re-encapsulate the operating system, that is, before returning to the initial installation state, and then make a Ghost image.

●Recommendation:

Reduce WinXP capacity

Firstly reduce the capacity of WinXP in the computer, the main purpose is to reduce the size of the system, and compress the image file to 650MB to 700MB. In order to burn the disc.

There are three operations that can be done to significantly reduce the capacity of WinXP.

The first is to turn off the hibernation function in the "control panel" &rrquo; “ power option & rdquo;, the system will automatically delete the hiberfil.sys file in the root directory of the C drive, saving hard disk space It is equivalent to the virtual memory capacity.

The second is to use the SFC command to delete the files in the C:WindwosSystem32dll cache folder. The specific method is: Click “Start” and “Run” to enter “ sfc.exe /purgecache” (Do not quote, note that there is a space between sfc.exe and /), which can save about 300MB capacity.

The third is to disable system restore on all drives.

According to the above steps, the total capacity of WinXP can be compressed below 1.2GB.

Note: You need to restart after the above work is completed to be effective.

●Note:

Uninstalling and Modifying Hardware Drivers

First declare the best use of the PS2 interface mouse and keyboard to prevent deletion of "Universal Serial Bus Control" "The USB mouse and USB keyboard are not responding when it occurs."

Open “Device Manager", then uninstall <;Web Interface Card", "Universal Serial Bus Controller", "Sound& rdquo;,> Video and Game Controller ”,“monitor”,“display card”. To do this, right-click on a certain hardware name and select “Uninstall”, and you should also adjust “IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller” as “Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller”. . Note that if the system requires a reboot, you should select “No” and do not start!

The resolution of the display must be adjusted to 800× 600 @60Hz standard to prevent the resolution from being too high and cause the display of other machines. Black screen.

At this point, a "clean" WinXP system is ready, and then we can repackage it.
