How to make vista and xp dual system coexist

Computer store news Microsoft's new generation operating system Windows Vista (hereinafter referred to as Vista) has been officially released, I believe many of my friends want to fully appreciate the charm of the new system. If you want to try Vista, and you are afraid of affecting the existing Windows XP system, you may wish to pay more attention to the "V-head special attack team" in the past. "Challenge the dual system", how to let vista and xp coexist? We will let everyone get started with the Vista+XP dual system combination as quickly as possible. Vista hardware configuration Before installing Vista, our computer has already installed XP, so if you want to adopt Vista, the first question is how to make the dual system coexist peacefully. Below we will introduce how to enter Vista from Vista hardware requirements, partition planning, specific installation, dual system configuration. Pay attention to your dual system configuration At present, the bottleneck of Vista installed on most computers is mainly in memory. Generally, you can install Vista by upgrading the memory to 512MB. The hardware required for different versions of Vista is not the same. For example, because the home version cannot use glass effects and 3D effects, the graphics card can be integrated with the motherboard. The flagship version has full functions. To fully enjoy all the functions of Vista, you must use a graphics card with more than 128MB of video memory. The memory needs 2GB, and the CPU should also be in 1GHz or more. Introduction to the Chinese version of Vista Vista is divided into Home Edition, Home Premium Edition, Business Edition, Ultimate Edition, and a Windows Vista Enterprise Edition for large enterprises. Detailed instructions for each version can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/china/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/choose.mspx. Pre-installation work: Use "Vista Upgrade Advisor" Before installing Vista, it is recommended that you use Microsoft's "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" (download address www.download.cpcw.com) to test the software's hard and soft configuration to see if the computer can Run Vista properly, or which components need to be upgraded. Run the upgrade consultant, the system will prompt you to download MSXML6.0, download the required components and install it, you can start testing, click & ldquo; start scanning & rdquo;, we can wait while scanning to view the Vista version. After the scan is complete, select a version you want to install in the right version list. The Upgrade Advisor will list the detected problems. Click the “View Details” button under the corresponding item to view the specific results and automatically upgrade the related drivers. Tip: The hardware required for different versions of Vista is not the same. For the computer with lower configuration, you can choose the home version. The friend with strong hands-on ability can also use vLite (download address www.download.cpcw.com) to simplify the installation of Vista. Run vLite, click “Browse” select a file to store the installation image such as d:\\vista, then insert the Vista installation CD, Vlite will copy the installation file to d:\\vista. After the copy is complete, select the version you want in the pop-up window, check the corresponding components according to your needs, click “Componerts” to start streamlining. Click “Taeaks” to streamline some components of the system, such as turning off UAC. Click the “Drivers” option to insert your own driver. After generating the thin installation file, click “Apply” to select “Apply and rebuild” in the pop-up window, click ISO after completion, and click “Make ISO” in the pop-up window to generate the image file. Finally, using Nero and other software to burn to the installation CD to install Vista, you can generally reduce Vista to 2.5GB (system disk size after installation). Partition Planning Leave 15GB for Vista. As you can see from Vista's hardware requirements, Vista requires 15GB of free hard disk space, and Vista's installation partition must be in NTFS format. Many friends have already installed XP on the C drive. In order to install Vista smoothly, we need to free up a partition with 15GB of free space. There are two ways to re-plan partitions. Several common versions of Vista contain different components, but these components are not large. In the default installation, the system disk size is approximately 7GB~8GB. A. Using the XP Disk Management Tool Partition For example, now I am going to install Vista to the D drive. The original capacity of the D drive is 10GB, and the E drive is 20GB. Now expand the D drive to 15GB. 1. After entering XP, first transfer all data of D disk and E disk to F disk. Right click on the desktop < My Computer & rdquo; select & ldquo; Manage & rdquo; open the disk management management window. Expand & ldquo; Storage /Disk Management & rdquo;, select the D drive in the right pane, right-click and select "Delete logical drive", in the pop-up confirmation delete window click & ldquo; OK & rdquo;, delete the D drive. In the same way, continue to delete the E disk. 2. After the partition is deleted, right-click on the undivided space and select “New Logical Drive” to pop up the Create Partition Wizard. Click on the prompt “Click Next” to select the new logical drive and the window with the specified partition size appears. Enter 15000MB. 3. Continue to create a partition as prompted by the wizard. Select NTFS in the file format and check “Execute Quick Format” to complete the partition creation. The system will automatically format the newly created partition as an NTFS partition. 4. After completing the above partition, you can directly install it in the second partition after installing it in Vista. Tip: Before adjusting the partition by the above method, you must back up the data of the deleted partition. If there is no space left, transfer the data of the above partition. You can also use PQ to adjust the partition without loss, but PQ adjusts the partition to be dangerous. B. Using the Vista installation CD to adjust the partition The Vista installation CD also comes with a tool for adjusting the partition. We can use the Vista installation CD to boot the system and then adjust the partition. 1. Prepare the Vista installation CD and insert the CD-ROM drive, restart the computer and enter the BIOS to set the CD-ROM drive to the first boot. When the boot prompt appears on the screen, press any key to start the system with the CD-ROM. When the language selection interface appears, select “中文”, then click “Next”, when the Vista installation interface appears, click “Install Now”. Then follow the prompts to enter the serial number, in the Windows version window, select the version you want, and check "Already I have selected the version of Windows purchased", click "Next". Tip: If you only want to take advantage of Vista users, you can not enter the serial number in the installation step, because the genuine serial number is corresponding to the Vista version, you can not choose the version after entering the serial number. If you leave the serial number blank, you can get a free 30-day period after installation. After the expiration date, if you want to delete Vista, just enter XP to format the partition where Vista is installed, then delete c:\\boot (the entire folder), c:\\Boot.BAK and c:\\BOOTSECT.BAK. 2. Continue to follow the wizard prompts to install, in the "Where do you need to install Windows" window, we can adjust the partition again. Click on "Drive Options (Advanced)" to expand the partition edit window. Select Partition 2, then click “Delete” to delete Partition 2. Same as above, select partition 3 and delete it. Now there will be more free space. After selecting the space, click “New”, and follow the prompts to enter “15360MB” as the partition for installing Vista. Tip: Before deleting the partition, you must first enter the XP backup data of the deleted partition. In addition, installing Vista under XP is not possible to adjust the partition, then you can only use XP's disk management tools. 3. After creating the partition, click “Format", the installer will automatically format the partition to NTFS format, select the 15GB partition and click “Next”, Vista will officially start the installation, the remaining operations Follow the on-screen instructions to complete step by step. Reasonable configuration allows dual systems to coexist peacefully Because Microsoft introduced a new boot loader architecture in Vista, the default default startup is Windows Vista. At this point we can adjust the system startup sequence in Vista. 1. After entering Vista, click “Start”, right-click on the Start menu > computer” select “properties", open the System Properties window and click “Advanced System Settings”. 2. Set the window, click "Start and Fix" after the "Settings" button, in the open window, select "“ earlier version of Windows" by default, and then click "OK" . Restart the system to set XP as the default boot system. Tip: Open the Explorer, find “d:\\windows\\system32\\cmd.exe”, right-click and select “Run as administrator”. After starting the command prompt, type “bcdedit /default {ntldr}”, and you can quickly change the system order after you press Enter.
