Teach you how to set the XP desktop background to only allow bitmap wallpapers

This setting limits the desktop background to only bitmap (.bmp) files. If the user selects images in other formats (such as JPEG, .GIF, .PNG) via the “Browse” tab, the wallpaper will not be loaded.

Step 1: Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\ActiveDesktop sub-health in the Registry Editor.

Step 2: In the right window, find or create a new DWORD key named "NoHTMLWa11Paper";

set its value to “0”, not to enable This setting; setting its value to “1” means that only bitmap images are allowed as wallpaper.

Step 3: Close the Registry Editor and restart the xp system, the settings will take effect.
