Analytical System Game Advisor - Win GameAdvisor

Computer games have always been more demanding on hardware than other applications, and have continued to push the upgrade of computer hardware. In the face of the endless stream of games in the market, consumers often know that the performance of the home computer is not enough to provide a satisfactory gaming experience after purchasing the game, and even can not successfully run the game.

Although there are a lot of game testing software in the market, because each game has different requirements on computer hardware, inexperienced users often don't know how to use these software to test the performance of their own computers, and then analyze them from the test data. The performance of the computer when running the game. Just because computer games play an increasingly important role in the high-performance computer market, in addition to improving Windows XP support for computer games, Microsoft recently launched a new service, Windows Game Advisor. The consultant, hereinafter referred to as WGA, is intended to provide game suggestions for all Windows XP users, allowing users to know if their computer is capable of playing the game before purchasing the game.

First, use

Step 1: Log in to www.microsoft.com/Windowsxp/games/gameadvisor/
, click "Start the Windows" on the page XP Game can start WGA.

Step 2: Users need to fill in the applicable age and game type of the game. In foreign countries, all games are checked by the ESRB (full name Entertainment Software Rating Board) and then given age level. The general FPS games are classified as 17 years old and above.

Step 3: After selecting the applicable age and type of the game, click the “Show me the Games” button to enter the page shown in Figure 1. Evaluated games are listed on this page, and we can re-select them through the “Chang Age Group” and “Chang Game Type” above. Click on "More Games" in the lower right corner of the page to list more games. In each game introduction, click on "lnfo" to link to the game maker's webpage to get more information about the game.

Step 4: Click the "Will it run on my PC?" link under any game, WGA will enter "Will it run" On the my PC? interface, click the “Start!” button in the lower corner of the page, WGA will start hardware testing of the current computer.

Tip: WGA uses the evaluation of Futuremark (also known as the manufacturer of 3DMark test software) Technology
for computer performance evaluation. When the test reaches 60%, it will automatically download and install a Plug-in program, and collect hardware information such as processor and display card. Users need to wait patiently for a while.

Step 5: Now, the online test program starts testing the computer. A security warning will appear on the first run, select "Yes". After the test is completed, WGA will represent the game performance of the current computer in the graph shown in Figure 2.

Tip: In fact, after the user has tested a game with the current computer, and then select other game tests, WGA will soon give the test result. The reason is that WGA has already set a standard score for different games in advance. It only needs to get the score of the user's computer for a game, and it can easily convert the performance of the user's computer in other games.

Step 6: Click on the first "Here" on the page in Figure 2, you can enter the page shown in Figure 3 to learn more about the current computer performance and game requirements.

Second, the correct view of the test results

Obviously, for ordinary users, you can use WGA to easily compare different games to the computer Configuration requirements. But this online test is relatively simple: the program does not reveal how to test the performance of the system, only know that all games are scored by a small program written by Futuremark (probably a simplified 3DMark) . But in fact, different games have different reliance on CPU and graphics card. For example, real-time strategy games may be more focused on CPU due to complex AI operations, and more combat units are more dependent on system memory. Therefore, the test is for reference only, the user can check the computer configuration listed below in "Recommended configuration for this game" in Figure 3 to check where the computer is missing. For graphics cards, pay special attention to whether the version of DirectX it supports is lower than the DirectX version required by the game.

Also, even if the test shows that your computer system is performing enough to run a game, we should still read the detailed system requirements for the game (click on the "To Component Comparison" link) to see the game in hard drive space and more. Whether the aspect also meets the requirements.
