Win XP advanced options menu application examples (below)

The boot menu of Windows 2000/XP is much advanced compared to Windows 98. After pressing the “F8” key, a “Windows XP Advanced Options Menu” with full Chinese interface will appear (pictured). In the previous issue, we talked about the security mode. For example, the security mode with network connection and the security mode with command prompt, we continue to explore other applications behind the "F8" key.

Fourth, the fault is well-known - enable the startup log

System problem example: my VIA motherboard onboard AC'97 sound card, after installing the WDM driver downloaded from the Internet, found The computer does not sound properly after each restart. Also, no sound card device was found in the Device Manager. How do we judge if the driver is installed?

Expert Tip: This may be caused by the installation of an incompatible driver, so the AC’97 sound card driver is not loaded when you start Windows XP. To solve this problem, you can first try to enable the startup log to run the system and then find the source of the problem.

Mode Description: Enable boot log mode can generate a file named ntbtlog.txt after system startup, and record the loaded and unloaded drivers during system startup into this file.

Steps to resolve:

In the first step, open the "System Disk:\\Windows" directory and delete the ntbtlog.txt file.

The second step is to restart Windows and launch it by selecting "Enable Start Log" mode in the Windows XP Advanced Options menu.

The third step is to enter Windows XP, open the ntbtlog.txt file, the "Loaded driver" section indicates the loaded driver, and the "Did not load driver" section indicates the driver that is not loaded, by looking for "viaudio" .sys" to see if it is loaded. If it is not loaded, reinstall the driver; if it is already loaded, but not available, re-find and install a compatible driver.
