Uninstall IE 8 method completely under Windows XP

When using the XP system, Internet Explorer 8 was installed for the first time due to the needs of the work. Due to compatibility issues, I had to change back to version 7. However, when uninstalling, I found that the uninstall option is not directly available in the Add/Remove Programs in My Control Panel. So, I checked the Internet and found that there is more than one person in this situation. This is not only happening in XP system, but also in Vista or Windows Server 2008.

However, there may be more than one solution. The following is a general summary of the methods provided by you:

·Uninstalling directly from “Add/Remove Programs” is the most common method. However, I think people who use the Internet to find the uninstall method need this;

·Uninstall from the "Update Program". If your system is XP SPx, open "Add/Remove Programs" in "Control Panel", then select "Show Update Program" above the panel, find the update item of Internet Explorer 8 Beta, delete it;

·If the above method still can't achieve the goal, you can try “Add/Remove Windows Components” on the left side of “Add/Remove Programs”, then remove the checkmark in front of Internet Explore, the next step. However, this method is strongly discouraged because many Windows programs rely on Internet Explorer, which completely removes Internet Explorer, causing dependent programs to fail, and the first two methods will cause Internet Explorer to roll back to the previous version;

·There are other methods similar to 3, which are completely uninstalled using the “smart uninstall tool” that comes with Windows Optimizer and 360 Security Guard, but you need to reinstall a version of IE after uninstallation.

·In fact, there is an effective method, which is also recommended by this article, that is, run C:\\WINDOWS\\IE8\\spuninst\\spuninst.exe directly. If you can't find this file, see if Not removing hidden attributes;

At this point, Internet Explore 8 has been uninstalled. It will automatically roll back to IE7.

In addition, if you don't have an Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, how do you get it to display the IE icon on your desktop again? Method, right-click - Properties - Desktop - Customize, check the checkmark in front of Internet Explorer. If you don't have this option, you need to run "Add/Remove Programs" in "Control Panel" to "Change Windows Components". Put the checkmark in front of Internet Explorer and the next step is fine.
