Make your own XP SP2 CD (multi-image)

In this article you will learn how to convert your original Windows XP CD to the latest version of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

What are the benefits of doing this?

When you reinstall Windows XP on your machine, your system will automatically upgrade to Service Pack 2 (SP2), eliminating the need for "Windows Update" and reinstalling Service Pack 2.

You can also add some of your own things like Microsoft Powertoys for Windows XP to this CD. I believe that you will install a lot of your own tools after installing a brand new Windows. Now you can put them all on this CD.

Preparing this CD

Before we get started, you need to prepare the following:

Your language version of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Windows XP boot file (boot area for writing to disc)

The latest version of Nero Burning Rom I use in this wizard

At least 1.5GB of hard disk space (for XP CD and SP2 file reservation)

Let's get started

Go to the (Windows XP) CD drive and copy all the files to a folder on your hard drive . This is easy. (shown below) I used F:CD.

then to determine the file to the root directory WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe where (example), and then enter the following command:

F: WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU. Exe -s:F:CD

Please confirm the correct drive letter, depending on where you put the files yourself.

In this example, I copy the entire contents of the Windows XP CD to F: CD, Windows XP Service Pack 2 files on the F: on the plate. To ensure correctness, check the location of the file again.

Click sure you will see the files are being integrated, as the following figure shows, like:

later you will see the following prompt: integration process has ended.

now Service Pack 2 files already on your CD in the folder.

you may notice now that folder is not as original as a CD, because the root directory has joined the service pack file. You may want to add some extra files now, and I added Norton Anti-virus 2003 and all Windows XP Powertoys to the "SUPPORT" folder. You can attach some small, critical software every time you install Windows. Please note that these additional files should not be too large to exceed the size of the disc (should be kept at 650/700mb, depending on The type of disc selected). The way to check the size of this folder is to right-click on the CD folder and select Properties from the pop-up menu. You will see the size of the folder. If your file exceeds 650mb or 700mb, Nero will also warn you that the file size is too large.

The final preparation is to add the WPA.DBL file to your CD. WPA.DBL is the activation file for your computer or hardware. This file is unique to your machine, so you don't have to worry about it being stolen or going elsewhere, although it will only appear on computers that have activated Windows XP.

The advantage of backing up this file to a CD is that you can activate Windows without contacting Microsoft over the Internet or by phone. This means that you can automatically activate Windows XP after reinstalling your system without worrying about the time limit for calling a Microsoft representative.

As the above picture shows, open "search for Windows XP" then select "All Files and Folders" -> "Look in" -> "C:" (or installed with Windows XP driver). Click on "More advanced options", make sure the first three options are selected ("Search System Folder", "Search hidden files and folders", "Search subfolders").

Once you have found this file, copy it to any place you like in the CD folder so that you can find it after you have finished making the CD. In my CD directory, I put it in the "SUPPORT" folder.

Note: The correct way to use the wpa.dbl file on a freshly installed system is to boot into safe mode after installing Windows XP SP2 and copy the wpa.dbl file to the system32 folder (in this example) Is C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32), and finally restart the computer (to normal mode). You will be prompted to activate Windows XP. After clicking OK, you will find that Windows XP can be activated if the file still matches the current computer. (This activation method is not supported by Microsoft. If it fails, you must use the normal method of Windows XP to activate it).
Burning a file to a CD

Open Nero Burning Rom and select CD-ROM (boot) just like the picture below. Make sure the content of your own dialog looks the same as in the picture. The xpboot.bin file can be placed elsewhere on your computer, replacing the F: here with the path on your computer. The following figure

content and then the tab (ISO) in the match:

the contents tab (tag) you can choose. I chose WXPSP2_EN as the volume label, but you can replace EN with the language of your region. You can also name it WXPSP2. There are also some examples such as WXPVOL_EN (volume) WXPOEM_EN (OEM version) WXPRET_EN (retail version) and so on.

Then click on the "New" button, you can use Nero file browser add files to the disc. First locate the CD folder of the Windows XP SP2 you have prepared and drag these files into it. Nero automatically calculates the size of the disc file and is ready to burn. After

all done, click the "Burn" button, you will see the "Burn" dialog box. Make sure the "End Disc" item is selected and finally click "Burn".

If all goes well, you will see:

before you confirm the correctness of this CD, you might want to try if you can use it to start the computer. You don't have to verify all the steps, just make sure you can boot the computer with this CD. If this is the case, you can use the Windows XP Service Pack 2 integrated CD to replace the original CD to install the system.
