Establish a WEB server on the WIN98 peer-to-peer network

First of all, you must establish a peer-to-peer LAN, and set the IP and subnet mask.

When building a WEB server on a WIN98/ME peer-to-peer network, the PWS application provided by the system is applied and can be installed through the installation CD.
One. Install WEB server
1. Insert the 98 CD into the CD-ROM drive, go to the pws folder in the add-one folder, and run the setup.exe file.
2. The installation interface appears. At this time, you can enter the path where the web server file is stored in the text box below the "WWW Service". The default is c drive.
3. Then it will be "the next step". After restarting the computer, an icon (a flower in one hand) will appear in the taskbar. When the mouse is over, the prompt: Personal Web Server is running.
4. Click the pws icon in the taskbar and a dialog box appears. By using the "Publish" function, you can also publish the home page directly here; through the "WEB Site" you can edit the home page, view the guest, and open the rumor book.
II. Set the WEB shared folder on the server
After the PWS program in the WEB server is installed, you must also create a WEB shared folder, where the web file is stored so that the client user can browse. Here are the specific steps:
1. Create a new folder on the hard disk of the WEB server
2. Select the newly created folder WEB, right-click, select "Share" in the shortcut menu that appears, and select "WEB Sharing" in the dialog box that appears.
3. Select "Share this folder" in the dialog box, a dialog box appears, enter the alias of the default WEB folder after "Alias", and select "Read" and "Script" items under "Access".
4. Click "OK" and it will be ok.
5. Feel free to write a web page using Word and Frontpage, and save the file in a web folder.
III. Client settings and use
In the client only need to set up IE
1. Open IE, select "Internet Options" under "Tools", and select "Connect" in the dialog box that appears.
2. Confirm that the client's IE is connected to the web server through the LAN (otherwise click "New Connection" in the dialog box, select the client to intervene in the Internet through the LAN), click "LAN Settings", and then the dialog box appears, "Proxy Server Select the "Use proxy server" item below, and enter the IP address of the web server (192.168.0.1) "Port" in the text box after "Address" and use the default 80.
3. Click the "OK" button and the IE browser settings are complete.
4. In the "Address" edit field of IE browser, enter http://wq1fj/web/wq.htm (where wq1fj is the computer name of the server; web is the set web share folder, wq.htm is a web page name) , will display a virtual internet test home page, indicating that the web server is working properly.
The work around here is basically completed. You can put your own designed web pages on the web server and let users on the network browse. In addition, each user can create a folder on the web server, set it to the "web share" property, and put their own web page inside, which can be browsed by users on the network.
