Use windows2000 to set up your own FTP SERVER

I don't know if you have encountered such a problem. If one of your friends wants you to send him a 3M packet, if you send it by E-mail, it will be slow, if Upload and then download, and it’s too much trouble. then what should we do? Can't you let your friends "drag" on their own machines? This is indeed a good idea. In the past, many people have introduced how to set up an operating system such as Win98 or Win95 as an FTP server, but those who need third-party software can achieve it. Today, with Win2000, everything becomes very simple, only very A few simple settings can solve these problems.

1. First add "Internet Services (IIS)" in "Control Panel"  "Add/Remove Programs"  "Add/Remove Windows Components". Because it contains all the files needed by the IIS service, there is an FTP transfer protocol.

2. After adding Internet services, the "Administrative Tools" option appears in the Control Panel. Double-click "Administrative Tools" and select "Internet Server Management".

3. Select "Default FTP Site", click the right mouse button and select "Properties" to set the FTP site. These include settings such as "FTP Site", "Security Account", "Message", "Home Directory", and "Directory Security".

FTP site: It is mainly used to set the FTP ID description, connection settings and settings to enable logging.

Security Account: Mainly used for account settings.

Message: Here you can set the message displayed when the user accesses the server.

FTP home directory: used to set the path of the home directory accessed when the user accesses the FTP site.

Directory Security: Used to set the authorization list for accessing the IP access restrictions of users of this FTP server.

After completing the above settings, the FTP server will work normally.

Now when you are online, you can give your own IP address to your friends, and then he can visit your machine and download the required things. It turns out that the FTP server is as simple as that.

But for dial-up users, a very important issue is that there is no fixed IP, which means that every time you have to tell people different IP, can you think of some simple solutions? What about this problem? Just when I finished this article, I found this software called DynIP on the Internet. Its main function is to be able to upload your mobile IP every time you dial it to the DynIP domain name server. DynIP will provide you with a domain name called xxx.dynip.com. This problem becomes much simpler. You only need to add the desired name to the hostname column. Every time you turn it on, it automatically submits your IP address and your domain name server starts working. Note: Your domain name cannot be duplicated with other people's names, otherwise it will be invalid. In addition, all startup default settings of this software are set according to the type of dial-up users, so no changes need to be made during use.
