Win2000 installation and server configuration (below)

In the previous section we introduced how to install Windows 2000 Server on a server. This section begins with an introduction to how to configure the network on this basis. At the same time, because Windows 2000 Professional is suitable for installation on workstations, it also describes how to install Windows 2000 Professional and configuration methods on workstations. In this way, this article becomes a more complete introduction to the network configuration.

First, establish a domain controller

According to the configuration diagram of the server configuration, the services that need to be established are:

1. DHCP, which is dynamic Host configuration protocol (service).

2. DNS service, the domain name service.

3. Active Directory.

For DNS and Active Directory, you can use DCPromo to manually create operations, which is a command line tool. However, since many people seem to be unfamiliar with the command line tools, I only tell you that there is such a tool. The specific operation will not be introduced. If you are interested, you can find the corresponding help materials yourself. The "Server Configuration Wizard" recommended by Microsoft is still used here. This is the tool that comes with the windows2000 server and does not require additional installation. The specific operation process is as follows:

1. After booting the windows2000 Server version with the hard disk, press Ctrl-Alt-Del and log in to the system as the system administrator.

  2. When the Windows 2000 Server Configuration Wizard screen appears, select "This is the only server in my network", which means only select the server in "My Network" and click Next. Related configuration steps. The configured items are: domain controller, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.

  3. Then what you want to name your domain page, this is for you to enter a domain name, this dialog window has two edit boxes for inputting text: according to the previous agreement, we In the top box, type: Reskit., type com in the second box, and the third box will display the full domain name of the above two parts. Of course, you can also enter your own domain name. The reason for typing the above name here is because there is an agreement in the previous section, that is, to maintain consistency in the narrative. Finally click Next to proceed to the next step.





 4. Since the configuration needs to be installed windows2000 Server CD-ROM disks, and so when to give After the system prompts, please put the above CD into the CD-ROM drive, the system starts the configuration operation, and after restarting, please restart the computer.

The following table is to configure the DHCP, DNS service and IP address according to the default value:

DHCP Scope: 10.0.0.3-10.0.0.254
Preferred DNS Server: 127.0.0.1
IP address: 10.10.1.1
Subnet mask: 255.0.0.0

Second, format another hard disk or partition

As mentioned at the beginning of the previous article, the system must use two hard disks, or create two independent partitions on the same hard disk. The first partition, as described in the previous section, we have used to install the Windows 2000 Server operating system. The following describes the operation of the second partition. According to the original plan, the main purpose of the second partition is to create an active directory. Of course, you want to put something else.

1. First, you must log in to the server with administrator privileges. If the Network Configuration Wizard is not closed, please turn it off first.

2. From the "Start -> Program -> Administrator Tools", always find "Computer Management", click to make the calculation management tool screen appear.

3. Find the storage folder and find "Disk Management". When searching, if a folder node displays a + sign, it means that the node is not expanded. Click the + button to click It can be expanded. You should be able to find "Unallocated disk space" in Disk Management and then click Create partition.

  4. The situation that follows is a familiar operation, because this is another partition, there are still many differences with the previous, the main need to pay attention to: (1) establish a partition The partition must choose to create an extended partition instead of the primary partition. (2) Agree to use all unallocated disk space as an extended partition. (3) Right click on Free space and select Create Logical Drive.

5. Agree to establish the entire partition as one (and can also create multiple) logical drives.

6. Agree to use the default drive label.

7. The machine will start the partitioning operation at this time, of course, the NTFS system is still used. Here is a screenshot of this step:

  Note:

In the above operation, if a message appears saying "Volume is open or in use. Request cannot be completed", this means that there is information on the partition, and Instead of unallocated space, right-click, acknowledge all defaults and choose to format the entire partition.

8. Finally, turn off the disk management tool.

  Third, the establishment of the Active Directory

1. The structure of the Active Directory:

  we still use the original agreement of Reskit.com as an example, This is the introduction above. Reskit is a group we imagine. Reskit.com is a domain name. By the way, the group, company name, and user name used here are hypothetical, and it would be a coincidence if it happens to be the same as one in the real world. The following is a schematic structural diagram of Active Directory:







 The part represented by a circle in the figure can be used as a "organizational unit (abbreviated as OU)" of a server. The OU includes accounts, groups, resources, headquarters, desktop computers, portable computers, etc., and may be different. The level, such as the level below the account, allows for the creation of many OUs. Things like this are directly related to what we do below. In addition, the graphic describes the relationship between managing and applying Ous, rather than the "photo" of the active Active Directory. The relevant knowledge about Active Directory is not relevant to the subject matter of this article.

(1). How to establish an OU

a. From the "Start-> Programs->Administrative Tools", always find the "Active Directory Users and Computers" dialog box, which is divided into two parts.

  b. Find Reskit.com in the box on the left, click on the + sign next to it, and the contents of Reskit.com will appear in the box to the right.

c. Right-click on Reskit.com in the left box and select "New New" from the menu that appears, followed by "Organizational Unit."

 d. In the Name dialog box that appears, type: Account Accounts, indicating that the newly created OU project is an account. Finally click OK to confirm the completion of the operation.

 e. Repeat the above procedure, type a different name, and then create a "group" and "resources" (Groups and Resources). At this point, under Reskit.com, we created three OUs: accounts, groups, and resources. Next, the OU under the account is created.

 f. Click on the Account node you just created to expand it (the start is of course empty). Right click on the Account and point to New. Still select "Organizational Unit." as above, type Headquarters in the Name box, and finally click OK to confirm the completion.

 g. If necessary, repeat the above steps, and then create another OU, such as product, sales (Production and Marketing), the only difference is that the name of the OU has changed.

If you follow the steps above to create an OU, the result should look like this:



  h. Following the same steps, you can create a desktop computer, laptop and server under the "Resources". That is, Desktops, Laptops and Servers. It is also the OU of the next level.

  (2) establish a security group

Select Groups, click the right mouse button, specify "New (New) -> Group (Group)" in the menu that is called up The name of the group is Management and Non-management, so that two groups can be created. Finally, set the group's properties to: Global and Security. Click OK for confirmation.

(3) Create a user account: Note that the user account here is under the Headquarters, and the account on the headquarters Headquarters is not the same thing.

2. Click on Headquarters under the Accounts account and its contents should be displayed in the box on the right, but in the process, the right side should be empty.
