Setting parameters to improve Firefox's memory footprint

According to TGdaily's test, IE 7 Beta 3 and Firefox 1.5.4 loaded their home page for the first time, the memory footprint is close to 64MB, and Firefox is a little more. But when these two browsers are minimized, IE 7 returns most of the memory to the system; Firefox does not. In the minimized state, Firefox still accounts for 57MB of memory, while IE 7 only has 10MB.

When maximizing recovery, Firefox's memory footprint remains the same, and IE 7 will call back the page content when needed. When the tag is clicked, the memory usage of IE 7 slowly increases, but it also remains less than 31MB, and the number of pages opened at this time is the same as before the minimization.

In fact, you can restore the memory occupied by Firefox to the system by setting it to minimize.

1. In the address bar, type: about:config

2. Right-click on the new page that appears and select: New - Boolean variable

3. In the New Preferences Name dialog, enter: config.trim_on_minimize and click OK

4. In the Enter Boolean dialog box, select True and click OK

You're done!
