If you receive Windows update error 80240016 when trying to install the update, the system is undergoing other installations. Please wait for the installation to finish before attempting to install the update.
If you're not sure which program or device is performing an installation or update, check the notification area on your computer for progress information, or check your desktop or taskbar to see if the installation wizard is running.
If the problem persists, try using Windows Update Troubleshooter.

If it doesn't work, try the following steps.

1. Close all open Windows updates or Microsoft update windows.
2. Click the “Start” button and type “command prompt”.
3. In the results list, right-click “command prompt”, then click “run as administrator”. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4. In the "command prompt" window, type the following command. Press Enter after each command:
net stop wuauserv
