The default configuration of Windows 7 is really not as good as Vista security

Before some security research institutes pointed out that Windows 7 does not have Vista security, although Microsoft denounced this statement, but the authoritative security agency Trend Micro recently said that no matter what Microsoft said, The default configuration of Windows 7 is really not as secure as Vista.

Trend Micro CTO Raimund Genes said that Windows 7 sacrifices security for performance, at least in the default configuration. Genes said in an interview: "I am not saying that Windows 7 is not secure, but Vista is better in security in the initial state."

The problem is again transferred to User Account Control (UAC, User Account Control) The first feature introduced in Vista is a security barrier that requires user permission before the program is executed. However, this cautious technique has made many users hate it. It always pops up a lot of meaningless reminders. Most users choose to skip the reminder or simply turn off the UAC function.

On this issue, Microsoft's own security experts also hold the same attitude. Recently, Microsoft's British security consultant Ed Gibson described the UAC as a "User Annoyance Control" user's hateful control with a scornful tone. In Windows 7, Microsoft reduced the number of applications that required user rights and lowered the version of UAC.

Genes thinks these changes are actually a step backwards. "I was disappointed when I first used Windows 7. There was no warning before the anti-virus software was installed, and there was no file extension hiding reminder. Not like Vista. In addition, after installing the anti-virus software, UAC will not give any reminder that the version is too old to upgrade."

Genes pointed out: "Windows 7 may have greatly improved in practicality. But it made a mistake in terms of security, although this error is not surprising. When Microsoft developers choose between usability and security, they always choose the former."
