Microsoft pushes Windows Embedded 2011 next year with Win7 as the core

  

Microsoft has just released Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3, which supports Silverlight technology to simplify the development costs and time required by OEMs, and supports user interfaces such as zoom and pan.

The Silverlight technology supported by Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 is called Silverlight for Windows Embedded and supports Silverlight outside the browser. By supporting Silverlight, OEMs can customize the development of user interface differentiation devices as needed.

In addition, the touch interface has enhanced functions. Developers can use Silverlight, Expression Blend, IE Embedded, etc. to save OEM development costs and time, and develop user interfaces for touch and gesture input such as pan and zoom. The new CE system also supports existing motherboard support kits (BSPs) and design resources.

Other features such as support for Office, PDF file viewing, provide experience related to the personal computer side, and support Windows 7 device manager identification to ensure links with the new operating system PC.

Kevin Dallas, general manager of the Microsoft Windows Embedded business group, said that the introduction of Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 enabled Microsoft's commitment to Consumer Internet Device (CID) by supporting Visual Studio, Silverlight, Expression Blend dramatically changes the interaction between users and devices, providing a consistent experience for users of specific embedded devices, PCs, servers and various online services.

With the entry of Microsoft PC operating system into Windows 7 generation, the embedded operating system of peripheral links has gradually changed. Before the new version of Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3, Microsoft just released Windows Embedded that supports multi-touch and link. Enterprise, and Windows Embedded Server that can be managed with Windows Server 2008 R2. Next year, Windows Embedded Standard 2011, which is based on Windows 7 and codenamed Quebec, will be launched to support Siverlight 2.0 technology.
