The first intimate contact between Windows 7 and EeePC

LAPTOP magazine has successfully installed the Windows 7 Ultimate Pre-Beta version on an ASUS Eee PC 1000H. On this Eee PC with only Atom N270 1.6GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, Windows 7 works well, similar to Vista Basic, and only some drivers are currently not available.

From the boot time point of view, Windows 7 starts on the Eee PC in just 58 seconds, which is faster than Windows XP, which is slower than the 40 seconds of the Linux system preinstalled on the machine.

In terms of actual usage, using Skype chat, WordPress to write blogs, plus GIMP editing photos and Filezilla uploading videos, Windows 7 has not lost its response, and the overall situation is quite smooth. There is no problem watching the video on Hulu.com, but the 720p playback is still inevitable.

Windows 7's new wireless network management features are quite useful for NetBook

From the perspective of memory usage, Windows 7 is idle. The Eee PC only occupies 485MB of memory and performs quite well.

The Eee PC scored 2.3 on Windows 7, slightly lower than the 2.7 given by Vista.

As can be seen from the above results, Windows 7 (at least the current test version) has excellent support for NetBook, which has changed the problem of excessive Vista hardware requirements, for low configuration. Users are very worth looking forward to.
