Windows 7 Upgrade Survival Guide

How can I easily upgrade to Windows 7? We should pay attention to the following 7 points:

1. Install from a flash drive or USB hard drive. You can save 5-10 minutes of installation time compared to slower DVD installations. If you plan to upgrade, you only need to back up your computer files. If you plan to do a net install, you need to make sure you can boot from the CD.

2. Back up your files before upgrading. Before you upgrade, you should copy the data files from your computer to another hard drive and delete the original data. After the upgrade is complete, you can copy these files back.

3. Check for compatibility issues before upgrading. The Windows Upgrade Advisor can check your computer's processor, memory, storage and graphics capabilities, identify known compatibility issues, check installed software and devices, and provide guidance on how to resolve them.

Before you upgrade, you should first solve the problem you have checked.

At present, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is still in beta, and the Microsoft Download Center will be available for free download.

4. Use the upgrade opportunity to remove old programs. Open the program window of the Control Panel and you can view a list of installed programs. If you find programs that need to be removed or replaced, you should uninstall them now.

5. Upgrade your hard drive with the upgrade system. If you think your hard drive is too small, it's best to replace it with a newer hard drive. SATA hard drives desktops or netbooks are now commonplace. You need to purchase a SATA to USB adapter to temporarily store your personal files, and then use the backup software to clone the files from the old hard drive to the new hard drive. Turn off the system, replace the new hard drive, and restart it.

6. Make sure to download enough drivers. At a minimum, you should make sure you have downloaded a wireless or wired network card driver. Without a network connection, you will not be able to download to other drivers.

7. Create an image backup after the upgrade. Each version of Windows 7 has a backup program that you can use to back up a full image file on a DVD or external hard drive.
