Unique features with Win7 Disable USB auto-install driver

Under Windows XP system, the first thing users consider to limit the use of USB devices is to prohibit their automatic playback to avoid Trojan virus intrusion. But many times, this method is not very effective. If you are a Windows 7 user, you can control the automatic operation of USB devices from the source through its unique "privilege control" technology.

So, how can we control from the source?

Everyone should know that when the USB device is plugged into the host computer, a later time, the system will prompt the XX device to be ready for use. This process is actually the process of system identification and the installation of the driver for the USB device. We can take advantage of Windows 7's unique permission control feature, prohibiting it from automatically recognizing and installing the driver, so that it can achieve the purpose of controlling the source.

Enter the "X:\\Windows\\inf" directory (X: the partition letter of the Windows 7 partition), find the "usbport.PNF" and "usbstor.inf" files respectively, and then correspond to them respectively. The "Group or User" attribute security permission is set to "Reject". Take "usbstor.inf" as an example:

Right-click the "usbstor.inf" file, and switch to the "Security" tab in the pop-up dialog box to set the system default group or user "SYSTEM". The "Full Control" permission is set to "Reject".

In the above figure, SYSTEM is completely controlled by default. Users can enter the setting guide window through the “Advanced” button below. I will not go into details here.

Edit Comment:

This method can control the self-installation of USB devices from the source, but correspondingly, when you plug the device into the host computer, the system will be "mute" ", do not respond to your insertion behavior. Correspondingly, the author suggests that users should upgrade their permissions for their favorite users to get the "Full Control" permission to achieve a flexible effect.
