How do I change the Windows 7 default installation directory?

shuhoo Q: Hello, Tiger, I am using the Windoows 7 system that comes with the computer. I have a question I would like to ask you. When I install the software and games, I always install it on the C drive. Every time I have to manually change to the D drive, is there a way to make the system directly installable to the D drive?

The method of modifying the default installation path in Windows 7 is similar to XP. First enter "REGEDIT" in the search window of the start menu to enter the registry. When you open it, you need to right click and select "Open with administrator privileges". After entering the registry, find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEsoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent Version, double-click "ProgramFilesDir" on the right, and change "C:Program Files" to "D:Program Files". In addition, you need to copy the files under C:Program Files to the corresponding location on the D drive. If you only change the registry, some system software may not work, such as "Photo Viewer".
