Win8.1 Start Menu Software 8StartButton Experience

1Win8.1 Start Menu: Support Metro's Start Menu
Although Win8 has been released for a long time, there are still many people who love the traditional start menu, including Start8, StartIsBack, etc. A large number of start menus to retrieve software contributed. However, it is surprising that since the entry into the Win8.1 era, many classic start menu retrieval software has been unable to continue to use (such as Start8), and more and more homogenized software design is gradually getting tired. However, since the author accidentally got to know a niche rookie 8StartButton, I suddenly found out that there are always good things, but I didn't find out!
Software name: 8StartButton
Software version: 2.0.2
Software size: 496KB
Software license: Free
Applicable platform: Win9X Win2000 WinXP Win2003 Vista Win7

Speaking of the biggest point of view of 8StartButton, I think this is the six-color flower shortcut menu. In short, when you click the Start button, the software will first pop up a row of circle buttons instead of the traditional start menu. Although there is one more choice, the actual trial is also good. The functions of the circle are many. The restart, logout, shutdown, search, METRO start menu, etc. are all available. The most important thing is to support button customization and icon one-button replacement.
Of course, it doesn't matter if you don't like it. Right click on the button and select “Left mouse click shows” and click on “8StartButton start menu” to be the standard start menu.

The start menu seems familiar, but has more flavor of Win8. To be honest, this is probably the one that I have encountered that best matches the Win8 style. On the left is the essence of the entire menu, divided into “Start Menu”,“Start tiles”,“Recent Docs” and “UPGRADE”. Among them, "Start Menu" is best understood, that is, the previous version of the menu, in addition to the common applications, here are also a collection of installed METRO applications, click to use.

"Start tiles" is a tile label, which is more inclined to display system level operations (such as control panel) than the previous "Start Menu" , network settings, etc.). And as its name suggests, a major feature here is that it is directly displayed in the form of a tile. Since the tile is relatively more occupied, many of the blocks are designed as overlay modules that automatically switch every few seconds.

2Win8.1 Start menu: Quick start is a pity. Fees are the same as the software itself, you can also pass Right click on the tile to modify it yourself, or even delete the second function. But what needs to be specially stated is that this is just a feature of the paid version, which is not supported by the standard version.

<quo;Recent Docs” is the most recently used document, of course, this is nothing to say, it is indeed a function that is not available in the Win8 METRO menu. The right button supports a single cleanup and full cleanup of the project, as well as a link folder display.

Below the menu is another set of praiseworthy places, giving the impression that it is a microcosm of the taskbar quick start button, by placing some common programs to achieve daily Quick start of function. However, like the tile modification, this is also a paid version of the feature, the free version is uncertain.

As for other functions, it is basically the same as traditional desktop, providing one-click search, one-button shutdown (including restart, logout, lock, etc.), Run three modules in one button. It is worth mentioning that its one-button operation, in addition to allowing users to manually enter the command line, also built a few commonly used commands (such as device manager, registry editor, management tools, etc.), it is very convenient to use.

Of course, in addition, 8StartButton has some other interesting gameplay, for example. Say you can enter the option →“General settings”Hide the Windows 8 Start area when working on the desktop" Let Win8 start menu show translucent effect, good to see for the time being, don't say, in short, you can see the desktop The file (in fact, the author estimates that this should be a compatibility issue with the 8.1 system, the author's original intention should be to hide the Win8 start button).
Or go to "Button settings" to change the icon or color of the default button. Then use the small button in the lower left corner of the menu to hide the watermark or adjust the transparency of the start menu. The most unforgettable is that it supports right-click to open the shortcut menu (with some common system modules), I have to say that this hidden menu with Win8 is really like!

Overall 8StartButton performance is good, six-color flower shortcut is undoubtedly its biggest point of view, but also currently and Windows 8.1 One of the best menu retrieval software for compatibility.
As for the regret, the author also simply said two sentences, the most obvious is that there is no Chinese language, and the default font rendering does not seem to be very good. In addition, the original start button of Windows 8.1 cannot be hidden normally, but the actual operation has no effect. Put the Win8 original menu in the lower left corner of the icon, and click the icon center to activate the 8StartButton menu. After familiarization, it is barely accepted.
In short, this is a comprehensive strength of the start menu to retrieve the software, if you feel the above mentioned problems can be accepted, you can download a try.
