Microsoft will add anti-virus features to Windows 8 system

According to foreign media reports, Microsoft will add security features in its security software Security Essentials to the upcoming Windows 8 system. But it may be bad news for the anti-virus industry. Microsoft intends to use anti-virus protection as a standard configuration for the Windows 8 operating system. Currently, Windows users need to download Security Essentials separately. But Microsoft will add the security features in Security Essentials to the Windows Defender toolkit built into Windows. This means that Windows users will be able to use independent protection, firewall and Windows system internal controls without requiring users to download or purchase new software. It is worth mentioning that Windows 8 will add a new feature to prevent users from using a USB flash drive infected with malware to boot the system. However, the anti-virus software built into the operating system also has its downside. Because Windows systems already have countless users, doing so may create a monopolistic culture that puts most computer systems under the protection of an anti-virus software. While consumers may be cheering for the added security features of the Windows system, the anti-virus industry will be angry. Some companies have issued warnings that they will sue once Microsoft provides Security Essentials to users via Windows Update.
