Windows 8 has started Dogfooding test

According to foreign media reports, Microsoft is stepping up to develop the next-generation operating system Windows vNext (Windows 8), and the development has entered the dogfooding stage.

Dogfooding refers to inviting company employees to participate in the test, providing feedback and advice. Dogfooding is a tradition with a long history at Microsoft. Dogfooding takes a long time before a product can be released to an external customer.

It is reported that Windows 8 has released the Milestone 2 version (similar to Windows 7), and the subsequent Milestone 3 version will be released soon.

According to the famous Microsoft observer Mary-Jo Foley, some users may remember that Microsoft released three Windows 7 Milestone versions before the official beta. Windows 8 seems to be taking the same approach to development.

Mary-Jo Foley expects that Windows 8 will release Milestone 3 in the first quarter of 2011, with the highest probability at the end of February 2011.

Industry insiders predict that Windows 8 will be officially beta in the second half of 2011, which is officially entering the Beta test phase.

According to information leaked from the Italian technology website, Microsoft has completed Windows 6.1.7764.0.100615-1748 and Windows 6.2.7901. Both Windows 7 system versions are related to the Windows 8 project.

As of now, Microsoft officials have not revealed a little about Windows 8 development plans. Of course, people are sometimes more willing to call the Windows 7 successor Windows vNext.

According to Microsoft's development practices, Windows 8 will be released three years after Windows 7 is released. The official release date is 2012, but some people think that Windows 8 will be released in 2013.
