Windows 8 boot always prompts to configure Windows update failure

  

Knowledge point analysis:

When the computer is booted into Windows 8 system, it will configure Windows update, but always update to %% when prompted " ; Configuring Windows update failed, restoring changes & rdquo;, then the system restarts. What should I do in this situation?

Operation steps:

First, after entering the system, click to enter < control panel>---“system and security>-- --“Windows Update ---“View update history", where you can find previously failed updates. As shown in the figure:

It seems that due to these failed updates, it will appear every time you boot up. "Configure Windows update failed, restore changes". Therefore, we will remove these unsuccessfully installed updates and let the system re-download and install these updates, that is, delete the temporary files that Windows uses to identify computer updates.

Before deleting the update temporary file, you first need to disable the Windows Update service, otherwise it cannot be deleted. The specific operation method is as follows:

1. Press the Win + X shortcut key to bring up the shortcut menu, click “Computer Management”;

2. Open the “Computer Management” window. On the left side, find the "Services" option;

3, then find the Windows Update service in the right window, right click, stop, stop the Windows Update service;

4, delete the path in turn

X: All files under WindowsSoftwareDistributionDataStore and E:WindowsSoftwareDistributionDownload;

5, restart Windows Update service, enter “Control Panel System and Secure Windows Update 

6. Click on the left side to check the update & rdquo;, and then wait patiently for the system to check for updates, you will see that important updates are available, as shown in the figure:

7. Click “ Important Update Available” , will open the "Select the update to be installed" window, the default has selected all updates;

8, click the "Install" button at the bottom to install these updates. Figure:

After installing the update, you will also be asked to restart your computer to complete the updated installation and configuration. If successful, the Windows update will be configured smoothly after the system is restarted.

Note:

Tip: If the "Configure Windows Update Failed, Restoring Changes" prompt still appears, there may be some factors affecting the installation and configuration of Windows Update. Suspected to be a security software issue, you can uninstall the installed third-party security software and try again.
