Windows 8.1 works great on the same hardware that supports Windows 8:

· Processor: 1 GHz or faster

· Memory: 1 GB (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)

· Available hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

· Graphics Card: Microsoft DirectX 9 Graphics Device with WDDM Driver

Warning

· In order to use Windows 8.1 Preview, you must be logged in to your computer using a Microsoft account. The option to create a local account will be available in the final release of Windows 8.1.

To use certain features, you also need to meet the following additional requirements:

· For 64-bit installations of Windows 8.1 Preview, your CPU must also support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF.

· To use touch, you need a multi-touch tablet or monitor.

· To access the Windows Store and download and run apps, you need a valid Internet connection, at least 1024 x 768 screen resolution, and a Microsoft account.

· Internet access (may generate ISP fees).

Windows will check that your system meets the requirements before you update to ensure that your system supports Windows 8.1 Preview.
