Windows 8 OPK and WAIK tools

According to foreign media reports, at present, Microsoft has not announced the public details of the next-generation operating system Windows 8, but the outside world rumors and speculation about Windows 8 is still a lot.

However, two strategic plans for simplifying the Windows 8 deployment process have been confirmed by Microsoft. Recently, Microsoft's project and software development management team member Mike Wolinski said that Microsoft has begun to prepare Windows 8 OEM pre-installation tool (OPK) and Windows automatic installation tool (WAIK).

Wolinski pointed out that he was involved in the development of the functional specification of the FQTSV3 toolkit for consumer demand and feedback, which will become the OEM pre-installation tool (OPK) for Windows 8 and Part of the Windows Automated Installation Tool (WAIK).

As the name implies, the OEM Pre-Installation Tool (OPK) is designed for OEMs to simplify OEM pre-installation of Windows 8 on new computers. According to Microsoft's current definition of the Windows 7 OPK, the OPK tool is a set of tools and documentation that supports automatic installation and customization of Windows 7.

Similarly, the Windows Automated Installation Tool (WAIK) is also targeted at specific people ——IT professionals. The Windows Automated Installation Tool (WAIK) will help IT professionals simplify the process of deploying Windows 8 in their organizations.

Microsoft says Windows AIK is an ideal choice for highly customizable environments, and the tools in AIK will enable users to configure many deployment options and provide a high degree of flexibility. The deployment environment for each company is different. Depending on the business needs and resources, users can choose to use all or part of the resources in the AIK.

It is reported that Windows AIK is composed of the following tools: Windows System Image Manager (Windows SIM), ImageX, Deployment Image Service and Management (DISM), Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) and users. State Migration Tool (USMT).
