How to solve multiple local connection problems in WinXP system

We often encounter problems with the NIC in the PCI slot, change a slot, re-install the NIC driver, the system will automatically create a connection for you, the network connection becomes "local connection 2" ;,“Local connection 3”,“Local connection 4” etc., it seems uncomfortable, and even more disturbing is that if you want to specify the original IP and other information again, the system will prompt that the IP has been assigned to a certain The network card, which has been deactivated or deleted, has caused a lot of trouble for everyone. But just use the following method to restore your local connection to its original state.

1. Open the "Start"Menu"Run" dialog box and type "regedit" to open the Registry Editor.

2. Find [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Network\\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

3. Under the subkey, information about the local connection is saved. There are one or more subkeys here, the first subkey corresponds to "local connection", the second subkey corresponds to "local connection 2", and so on, you can also expand the subkey, and then Select the “Connection” subkey below. In the right window, you will see which connection corresponds to it, and delete the entire subkey corresponding to the previous old connection.

In this way, the registration information of the network connection has been completely deleted. Since WinXP's own connection sharing is not specified, multiple local connections can only be used manually. After completing the above operation, the system will reallocate a "local connection" based on the found network card, and there will be no "local connection 1/2/3". Follow the prompts to set "local connection" to the desired state.
