XP system file damage repair method (2)

Second, the repair file is no longer "old"

This is the file version mentioned at the beginning, most users install the original version of Windows XP without SP2, and then install on this basis SP2 patch package, then in the C: \\ WINDOWS directory will add a ServicePackFiles directory, SP2 installation file, the directory will take up nearly 400MB of disk space, but we can not delete this folder, otherwise when a ServicePack system When the file is damaged, the Windows file protection function will not be automatically restored, and there will be no error prompts, and some system components will not be updated. In order to reduce the space occupied by the system partition, we can also move the ServicePackFiles directory to other partitions, but you need to modify the "ServicePackSourcePath" and "ServicePackCachePath" key values to point to the new path after the transfer as described above. This method is more cumbersome, the best way is to manually integrate the SP2 patch package into the Windows XP installation file on the hard disk.

Assume that the file name of the SP2 patch package is xpsp2.exe, open a command line window, enter the directory where xpsp2.exe is located, and enter the command "xpsp2.exe -x" to extract the file. A pop-up prompt will let you choose to extract. Directory (see Figure 3), for example the input path is "c:\\xpsp2". After the extraction is complete, go to the c:\\xpsp2\\i386\\update directory and enter the command "update.exe -S:e:\\winxp". Note that the path "e:\\winxp" refers to the path of the Windows XP installation file on the hard disk. There is no space between the parameter "-s:" and the path. When the prompt "Integrated installation has ended" is completed.
