Win10 uses advanced: How to partition the computer hard disk using the GPT partition format?

Today, more and more users use large-capacity hard drives, which makes traditional MBR partitions unsuitable for development. As a result, it is capable of supporting more than 2.2TB of hard disk capacity, and the GPT partition format supporting up to 128 primary partitions in Windows is becoming mainstream. How to partition a computer hard disk using the GPT partition format? I will teach you how to partition.

This method is applicable to 64-bit Win7/Win8.1/Win10 systems and can meet the requirements of using GPT partitions as the above system partitions. This tutorial uses the DiskPart partitioning tool built into the Windows 10 first anniversary update preview 14342 soft-ware homemade ISO image (click to enter the download page). The functions in the scope of this article are no different from the other available images mentioned above.

Note: All data needs to be erased in this process, so non-new hard disk users need to be cautious.

Before the start, users need to prepare the Windows system CD or U disk, you can use the soft media Rubik's CD burning, U disk boot tool combined with the system ISO image production, the system U disk production method see "fastest the easiest! GPT partition as follows:

1, the system making good use of CD-ROM or U The disk is booted, and the boot mode is adjusted to UEFI in the BIOS (for Legacy BIOS users), as shown in Figure 1:

Tip: Press ESC after booting or The default button of the current computer can enter the startup mode selection interface, or enter the BIOS to set it separately (the hotkey is generally Del, F2, etc.), the specific situation needs to be determined according to the computer preset, but the operation mode is similar. UEFI boot requires motherboard chipset support. If you do not find the corresponding content in the BIOS settings, then it is likely that your motherboard does not have this feature.

2, after the system version selection interface (Figure 2), press Shift+F10 to bring up the command prompt, as shown in Figure 3——

3. After entering the diskpart command, press the Enter key to enter the DISKPART tool, as shown in Figure 4.

4. After entering the list disk command, press the Enter key to view the computer. Currently available hard drives, numbered 0, 1, 2 … … if you only have one hard drive, only the 0th disk; if there are two hard drives, it will also display the 1st disk, and so on, as shown in Figure 4. >

5, enter select disk x (x is the above hard disk number), select the hard disk you want to partition operation, if there is only one hard disk, enter select disk 0 and press Enter key, as shown in Figure 4. Br>

6. Execute the clean command to clear all partitions on the hard disk (this step is not required for the new hard disk). At this time, all hard disk data will be cleared, as shown in Figure 5.

7. Execute the convert gpt command to convert the hard disk into a GPT partition table, as shown in Figure 5.

▲ Figure 5

8. Create an EFI partition and execute create partition efi size= 200 (partition size is 200M B), as shown in Figure 6

9, create an MSR partition, execute create partition msr size=200 (Microsoft system reserved partition), as shown in Figure 6

10, create a primary partition , create partition primary size = xxx (the specific size depends on your requirements, as a system partition, if there is enough space, you can leave more than 100GB or 102400MB space, the command is create partition primary size = 102400, convenient system There is enough turnover space), as shown in Figure 6.

▲ Figure 6: The partitioning process uses virtual machine simulation, so the primary partition size is set to 30GB only as an operation demonstration, and the actual operation is performed according to step 10

11. If there is still space left, you can continue to execute the above command to create a new partition (note the specific value). However, it is recommended that the user exit the command prompt after installing the system partition to continue to install the system. After all, this method is not easy to estimate the remaining hard disk space. After entering the installation program, the remaining space can be further divided (as shown in Figure 7). After the end, enter the system disk management for allocation.

▲ Figure 7: Unallocated space can create a new partition here, can also be created after the system is installed

This method does not require any third-party tools, is the most basic The advantage of the method is that the operation is simple and intuitive. The disadvantage is that the command is not easy to remember, and the hard disk data cannot be retained. Therefore, before using the operation, be sure to confirm that the data in the used hard disk can be deleted, so as not to cause regret.
