Windows 10 cumulative update KB3140745 will always cause the installation failure and the solution

Microsoft recently officially pushed the Windows10 10240 cumulative update KB3140745. However, some user feedback applies to the x64-based Windows 10 cumulative update (KB3140745), which always fails to install. What should I do? In fact, users can follow the following methods, basically solve the problem that the update can not be installed.

Solution:

1. Temporary files can be deleted.

Delete the contents of the DataStore folder and the contents of the Download folder under C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution.

2. Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder:

Press and hold the Windows key +R key to open the run, enter services.msc in the input box and press Enter.

Double-click to open the "Windows Update" service.

Click on the "Service Status" button" "Close" button to change the activation type to “Disable”.

Then rename the C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution folder to SDfolder.

Re-enable the Windows Update service after the rename is complete and try to check for updates and installations.

PS: The above operation can be entered into safe mode.
