Win10 TH2 allows enterprise users to turn off all background data collection functions but users are not recommended to do so

Controversy about the privacy policy of Windows 10 is far from over. After all, users who are still strongly opposed to the system data collection policy are obviously not as much as they were when they first launched. For a long time after the release of Win10, the operating system has been accused by many users because it collects more user data by default than the previous version. Although Microsoft's original intention was to further improve the functionality and repeatedly explain it to users, it still could not be understood by users, especially enterprise users.

In response, Microsoft adjusted the privacy settings in TH2. In a blog post that Microsoft announced the official release of TH2, Microsoft Windows and device director Terry Myerson said: "In today's update, we fulfill our commitment to allow corporate customers to turn off all telemetry data options. But we still don't recommend it, because this data can help us build a safer, more stable, and more personalized user experience..."

For ordinary Windows10 users, Microsoft still has not given It has the same rights. Microsoft claims that only anonymous data is collected and sent to the Microsoft server, and that the data is stored in encrypted form in a secure data center, making it impossible for anyone to access the details of the data.

Of course, for users who are particularly concerned about privacy issues, such a statement does not seem to be enough to convince them, but fortunately Microsoft is more open and willing to listen to user suggestions. In fact, in Win10 TH2, Microsoft still has some adjustments to the privacy settings. For example, Windows Defender will explicitly prompt users when uploading files.

Of course, for those who are extremely privacy-conscious, such commitments are still powerless. Here we can only hope that Microsoft will make further adjustments in subsequent versions after listening to more feedback.
