Microsoft said that four patches pushed to Win7/Win8.1 will not illegally collect user information

For the sake of information and privacy security, many users have abandoned the use of various features related to privacy in Windows 10, and even fall back to Win7/Win8.1. However, according to previous foreign media news, Microsoft's KB3068708, KB3022345, KB3075249 and KB3080149 updates pushed to Win7/Win8.1 have user information collection capabilities. This disappoints users who originally thought that Win7/Win8.1 is safer than Win10 on personal information issues. However, Microsoft said that the above four patches will not illegally collect user information.

According to a response from a Microsoft spokesperson, these patches will only collect information on Windows 7/Windows 8.1 user computers in accordance with the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP), so only CEIP will be added. Users will participate in this collection of information. And these four patches are optional updates and do not require users to have to install.

Microsoft also said that the CEIP data collected by these updates will be used to help improve and diagnose Win7/Win8.1 products, and the means and content collected do not exceed the privacy statements of the two operating system products.

In summary, if you are using the Win7/Win 8.1 system and have joined the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program, then these four patches will perform the required information collection tasks. If you do not want to participate in this collection activity, you can opt out of the program, or uninstall the above optional updates (the number of installed actuals may be less than four), will not affect the normal operation of the system.
