Microsoft announced the specific path details of upgrading each version of Windows to Win10

At the WinHEC conference in China, Microsoft announced new details on Windows 10 release, including free upgrades for all Windows piracy and how to upgrade Windows 10 to various versions of Windows and devices. Not surprisingly, Microsoft will offer two ways to upgrade users to Windows 10 through ISO and Windows updates. In general, if you are running the latest version of Windows 7 or Windows 8, users can choose either of two upgrade methods to upgrade to Windows 10. If the user's current operating system is all other iterative versions of Windows 8 and 7, then only the ISO can be used for the upgrade.

For those who use Windows phones, Windows Phone 8.1 will be able to upgrade to the Windows 10 mobile version of the operating system, but if the phone is still running Windows Phone 8, then first upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1, in order to continue to upgrade to Windows 10 mobile version. Windows RT has no chance to upgrade Windows 10, Microsoft has previously said that there will be some kind of Windows 10 corresponding to Windows RT device upgrade, but now according to Microsoft's latest Windows 10 upgrade path map, Windows RT platform will not be able to run any form of Windows 10.

If you are running Vista or XP, you need an ISO to cleanly install Windows 10.
