What services and protocols do I need to open to create a home group in Windows?

The Windows family group relies on multiple protocols and services such as IPv6, "family group provider". Normally, these protocols and services are automatically started when the Home Group Creation Wizard starts; however, if the system is "simplified" or "optimized", these protocols and services cannot be started automatically, which will affect The successful creation of the family group. In this case, you need to check if the relevant protocols and services are working properly.

1, see if the family group creation wizard can start normally.

If you see the following window, the network location setting is incorrect. Windows 7 divides the network into three locations: home, work, and public. Only computers on the home network can create a home group.

2, change the network location to the home network.

Control Panel-->Network and Internet-->Network and Sharing Center-->View the active network, if the type is working network or public network, click it in the pop-up window Choose a home network.

3. Run the Family Group Wizard again to check other services or protocols.

Control Panel-->Search Family Group-->Click to start the home group. If you see the following window, the service or protocol that the home group depends on is not working properly.

4. Check the HomeGroup Provider service.

Control Panel-->Search Management Tool-->Double-click to start the service and find the HomeGroup Provider. If its status field is blank, it means it is not started, then right click to start it.

5. Check the IPv6 network protocol.

Run the Family Group Wizard again. If you see the following prompt, the IPv6 network protocol is not loaded.

6. Load the IPv6 network protocol.

Control Panel-->Network and Internet-->Network and Sharing Center-->Change Adapter Settings, right-click the current link--> attribute, check Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), OK.

File and printer sharing is also one of the necessary protocols. If it is not checked, please also check it.

7. View other related services.

If you still can't complete the family group creation wizard after step 6, follow the procedure in step 4 to check for three other services, such as Peer Networking Grouping. If any of them are not started, right click. Start it.

8. View the firewall settings.

It is reasonable to say that this is not necessary, because in the process of creating a family group, the relevant port of the firewall will be automatically opened. If there is still a problem after the above steps, then take a look at it, and it is good to solve other problems.
