Step 1: Press the Windows key + R key combination on the keyboard. In the open running window, open the Run dialog box, type “ldped;gpedit.msc” and press Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.

Or search for “gpedit.msc” in the Windows 7 Start menu. Click on the searched file to open it.


Step 2: Locate and open <;Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Windows Components" in the left side of the Open Group Policy Editor, and Find and double-click on the right side of the "AutoPlay Policy", find and double-click "Close AutoPlay" in the open Autoplay.

Step 3: In the Open “ Turn off AutoPlay window, change the Unconfigured to “Enabled” and click OK.

Registry to turn off the autoplay function

Step 1: Enter “regedit.exe” in the search text box in the Windows 7 Start menu, click on the searched file to open the Registry Editor.


Step 2: Click Find in the open registration editor and click Open “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer” and on the right Find the NoDriveTypeAutoRun item on the side and right click on the item to delete it.


Step 3: Restart the Windows 7 system to take effect.
