Restore HTM_HTML icon

Since I uninstalled the Firefox browser last time, the HTM and HTML icons of my computer XP system have not been changed. It has become an unknown icon of windows. I follow the online method. In the ---> folder option ---> file type does not work, and later consulted the information, found a solution: The original key value in the registry was modified or damaged. Now I will share my method as follows:

1: Run regedit, navigate to the [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\htmlfile\\ShellEx\\lconHandler] branch, and delete the key named lconHandler in the right window. Close the Registry Editor.

2: Right click on the desktop IE icon, select the “Attributes”, and then click on the “Reset web settings button” under the “Programs tab”, confirm in the pop-up window, then close the settings window so that you can restore It is.

Supplement: One of the solutions:

1. Open the registry: Run —> Enter regedit—> Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT—> 2. Find .htm and .html—> Double click on the right side of the default, confirm its value data as htmlfile 3, find htmlfile\\ShellEx\\IconHandler—> double click on the right side of the default, confirm its value data is {42042206-2D85-11D3-8CFF-005004838597} 4, Find CLSID\\{42042206-2D85-11D3-8CFF-005004838597}\\Old Icon\\htmlfile\\DefaultIcon —>Double-click on the right side to confirm the value data is C:\\Program Files\\internet explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE, 1 (Note: C is changed to the drive letter of your system) 5. After modifying these, refresh the folder to see if the icon is normal. If it is not normal, first add the .htm or .html file extension. Change to .exe and then change back to .htm or .html

The second solution: Start ——Set ——Control Panel——Folder Options in “File Type “ in the tab has been noted Find the html or htm file in the file type, select it, and then click “Advanced, click on the "Edit File Type" dialog box that pops up and change the icon and enter the path of the icon to be displayed, "C:\\Program Files" \\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE.

The third solution: Open IE & rarr; Tools & Rarr; Internet Options & Rarr; program, there is a default WEB browser in the pop-up window, there is a default value next to it, after seeing Click on it to set it as the default. Why is it better to do this? Because when we install another browser, the newly installed browser will be automatically set to the system default browser, then the htm/html icon will be changed. Now that we have IE set to the default value, its htm/html icon will be restored to the IE icon!

The fourth Solution: First regedit into the registry, find the [HKEY_CLASSES _ROOT \\ htmlfile \\ ShellEx \\ IconHandler], IconHandler delete key, and then close the registry. Then enter the Internet option, and then select "Reset Web Settings" under "Programs", and then close it, you should generally see it, if you are not assured, you can restart it. If the change is unsuccessful, you can write the registry: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\http\\shell\\open\\command] @="\\"C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Internet Explorer\\\\IEXPLORE. EXE\\" -nohome" Put the above into the newly created TXT file, save it as IE.KEY, double click.

Solution 5: This problem usually occurs. It is also possible that the icon cache file is corrupted. After displaying the hidden file, search for iconcache.db under the system disk C: drive to delete it. After the restart, the system will automatically rebuild and will resume. The Htm and Html file icons are missing. I don't know what software is installed. The htm and html file icons are missing. I am extremely unhappy, but I still found a solution. Someone wrote it online. I admire the author. The following is from the author: Cause: installed a program to change the Htm /Html file settings: modify the registry, change the default icon association of the Htm /Html file back to the default. Specific operations: mainly confirm the two default values in the registry. One place is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\htmlfile\\ShellEx\\IconHandler, confirm that the default value on the right side is {42042206-2D85-11D3-8CFF-005004838597} (this value is below XP, it is not guaranteed to be the same under other systems), if not, please change this back. Value (including curly braces); another is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\CLSID\\{42042206-2D85-11D3-8CFF-005004838597}\\Old Icon\\htmlfile\\DefaultIcon, confirm that the default value to the right is C:\\Program Files\\internet explorer\\ IEXPLORE.EXE, 1 (my system is wrong in this place), otherwise please change this value back. Save, refresh, this time should be OK. Added: After completing the above steps, if only the Html icon is restored, and the Htm icon is still not changed, please confirm that the default value of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\.htm is htmlfile, otherwise please change it back, save and refresh, everything will be OK. . PS: I added that these two files are very troublesome to change. The icons of other files are lost because they don't modify the registry, so it won't be too much trouble. Just change them in the "File Types tab" in the folder options. Just fine.

File Type: Start ——Set ——Control Panel——Folder Options. After deleting the item, select “Reset web settings in the <quo;Internet Options to resolve the issue and possibly reset the registry value.
