Microsoft Edge browser will be supported by WOFF 2.0 fonts to speed up page loading speed

Computer Store News: The current Windows 10 Insider Preview Build has been added to use WOFF 2.0 font support on the Microsoft Edge web browser. In essence, this will reduce the site load time, the principle is to reduce the file size of the font by 30%.

Microsoft says:
“ More than 60% of web pages use custom fonts, which account for 5.3% of the average size of web pages. As the demand for custom fonts grows and the payload of the site continues to grow, modern websites need to load more data in the form of fonts. Because of this trend, font files need to be loaded faster when rendering pages, and WOFF 2 provides substantial improvements.

As part of the Windows 10 First Anniversary Update, WOFF 2.0 font support will be available to all Microsoft Edge users and will be available later this summer.
