Win10 needs to save the PC market for at least two years

Computer store news: Every generation of Microsoft Windows systems, people want it to stimulate the PC market, Win10 is no exception. Consumers also seem to be looking forward to the emergence of more robust PC hardware in the market to take full advantage of the new operating system. But this time things didn't develop as they expected.

According to the latest research report released by Gartner, an information technology research and analysis company, it will take about two years for Windows 10 to push PC sales to rise sharply. Gartner said in the report that the total sales of equipment including PCs, tablets, ultrabooks and smartphones this year is expected to drop by 1% to 2.4 billion units compared with last year. The forecast is just the opposite. Some time ago they said that the total sales of equipment this year will be 1.5% higher than last year.

Global PC sales are expected to reach 291 million units this year, and are expected to remain at the same level next year, even though Windows 10 has been released and will receive other major updates next year. By 2017, Windows is expected to help the PC market turn around and achieve sales of 303 million units.

Ranjit Atwal, research director at Gartner, said: “The currency devaluation and subsequent price increases will continue to discourage PC users, especially corporate users, from updating their replacements to new devices, which will continue until the end of 2015. By 2016, we expect the currency impact to gradually weaken, and a large number of Windows 10 products with Intel Skylake platform will increase PC device sales. The enterprise market will purchase Windows 10 in large quantities in 2017, when we expect the PC market to return to the 4% growth momentum. & rdquo;

Since Windows 8 removes some of the familiar features of the mouse and keyboard operation users, this also makes Windows 10 an important task now, which is to make PC users more familiar with the desktop. Microsoft has been doing this all the time. They first let the start menu return to Windows 10, and also introduced useful features such as multiple desktops and Cortana.

However, Windows 10 does take more time to significantly boost PC market sales, and the free upgrade of Windows 10 can't help. Because Windows 7/8.1 users can upgrade Windows 10 directly on existing computers, and the minimum configuration requirements for Windows 10 are the same as the previous system configuration requirements, so PC users can't find any reason to buy a new computer.
