Survey: Win10 failed to help the PC market get out of the quagmire

Computer store news: The PC market has been in a bad situation in recent years. According to the latest market research report, although Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system has won unanimous praise from the outside world, it has not helped the development of the PC market.

IDC pointed out in a research report released recently that the PC market will experience a negative growth of 8.7% in 2015, with total shipments expected to be 281.6 million units. Considering that many PC manufacturers are preparing for the release of Windows 10 products in the second half of the year, this year's second quarter is considered a transition period. However, the PC market's shrinkage in Q2 is still higher than expected, mainly due to the large amount of indigestible stocks in the first quarter and the depreciation of other major currencies closely related to the US dollar.

At the same time, technical analyst firm Pacific Crest Securities conducted a survey of 29 retailers asking if Windows 10 promoted product sales, especially when compared to the golden age of Windows 7 in 2009. . Regrettably, the answers they get are basically negative.

Pacific Crest pointed out that Windows 10 has no impact on inventory levels or PC sales, which is in stark contrast to Windows 7, but still better. Windows 8. As a result, Pacific Crest expects Microsoft's equipment and consumer revenue to fall 14% year-on-year, while total revenue for the fiscal year will also fall by 6%.

However, on the bright side, because analysts have lowered their expectations, Microsoft has a great chance to produce a surprising performance.

IDC pointed out that as touch and ultra-light PC products continue to mature, sales of 2-in-1 devices, including Surface Pro, have increased, even though sales of traditional devices continue to shrink. They also mentioned that Windows 10's free upgrade policy provides an opportunity for terminal and business users to upgrade their hardware, so this market may show signs of a slight easing in 2017.
