Win 10 sends data or is not clear

Computer Store News: In theory, Windows 10 should allow users to enter the settings to disable the operating system to send information to Microsoft. However, we found that even if the user disables this option in Windows 10, the operating system will still connect and communicate with the Microsoft server.

According to Ars Technica, a well-known American technology blog, Windows 10 will still send a request to bing.com if the user closes the Cortana assistant on the Windows 10 system and runs a web search in the start menu. The instruction, and this instruction also comes with a random machine ID code.

Additionally, even if no active window is associated with the start menu, the operating system periodically downloads new window data from Microsoft over an unencrypted HTTP connection. When using HTTP and HTTPS proxies, it is said that Windows 10 systems will bypass these connections and make requests from a content distribution network.

When connecting to a new network, Windows tries to extract two text files for IPv4 and IPv6, respectively, to determine if the network is connected to the Internet. However, these requests can be streamlined, at least not including the user's machine ID code; if there is some technical knowledge, these requests can be completely closed.

Another more serious problem is that the Windows 10 system will communicate with the Microsoft Cloud Storage Network OneDrive server. Even if the user turns off OneDrive and logs in locally, Windows will still send some unknown data to the OneDrive server. These data may relate to the telemetry settings of the user's machine. Users with certain technical knowledge can also turn off this setting.

Microsoft said in a statement:

Windows 10 as a service will continue to provide new features, such as providing new features for Bing search, such as new Visual layout, style and search code. However, the query or search usage data will not be sent to Microsoft, and Microsoft will follow the privacy settings selected by the customer. This also applies to offline searches, such as apps, files, and settings on your device.

The outside world's evaluation of Windows 10 has been good, but there are also critics complaining that Windows 10 systems share data under default settings compared to most operating systems including Windows 8.1 or OS X Yosemite. many. These shared data settings can be manually turned off, but users must make a conscious choice.
