Microsoft: Win7/8.1 users, please upgrade before installing new Win10

Computer Store News: Microsoft officially launched Win10, and many users are trying to perform a new installation to circumvent compatibility issues or other issues that may be encountered during the download and installation process. Although the new installation works with every previous version of Windows, it is not suitable for Windows 10, so if you don't upgrade beforehand, don't try to install Windows 10 completely!

Although all genuine Windows7/Windows 8.1 users have the right to upgrade Windows 10 for free, but the original Win7/Win8.1 product key cannot be used in Win10. You must upgrade from the old version to Win10 before you can perform a new installation.

Microsoft explains the Windows 10 upgrade process:

“ Once you upgrade from the old version to Win10 and the system is automatically activated after the upgrade, Win10 activation information will be associated with your computer hardware. Binding, Microsoft's server will have relevant records. After the upgrade and activation, you can install Win10 completely. You only need to select the version when you install the new one, and you don't need to enter the key.

In other words, as long as you upgrade directly to Windows 10, the operating system will be activated, and you want to install it many times. Connect to the network and the generic product key used by your system can be used again for activation.

Microsoft added, "You can't use Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product keys to activate Windows 10. Upgraded Windows 10 PCs do not require a unique product key for activation. As long as you upgrade from a Windows 7/8 system, all upgraded Windows 10 PCs will use the same generic product key to perform the activation. ”

Also, since activation is tied to computer hardware, if your computer's main hardware changes, you need to contact Microsoft to reactivate the system.
