According to data released today by Microsoft's official blog, as of December 2014, Microsoft has more than 1.5 million registered users of the Win10 beta project. Among them, about 450,000 highly active users, which means that a considerable number of users are using Win10 Preview as the main operating system for daily use.

Microsoft's official Windows 10 preview build is 9879. Before the beginning of 2015, Microsoft said it would not upgrade the existing version of Build. But now there is a leaked Build 9901 on the Internet. Aul also explained why Microsoft did not release the Windows 10 public version of Build before the end of 2014:

“ We are working hard to develop new builds, including some new features and improvements, but what we need to do is to ensure stability. The code solves any integration issues and ensures that all new user experiences are carefully polished. Our attention is on the new build version, and we hope that you will feel that everything is great. In fact, we remind ourselves every day that we want to make the new version of Build better. We even named this Build branch, called FBL_AWESOME. Yes, it's a bit vulgar, but believe me, every developer seeing the name of the branch will immediately clarify our goals. We are also excited to show you everything we have done!

Since its release, Microsoft has released patches and hot fixes for Windows 10 Build 9879, including Tuesday's hot fixes to fix some New issues. Aul said: “We believe that we will become smoother in the evolution, but we really need to apologize for our mistakes and thank you for your support!”
