Win10 installation: mysterious vulnerability lurking 19 years after being repaired

Computer Store News: On Tuesday's patch day, Microsoft brought 16 security fixes to the existing Windows operating system. Recently, it is reported that Microsoft has fixed a security vulnerability that may have existed for 19 years on this patch day, affecting all versions of operating systems since Windows 95.

This security vulnerability was first discovered by IBM in May, after which IBM privately reported the situation back to Microsoft. According to information provided by IBM, this vulnerability was discovered in the IE browser code, which is a Dependent but not necessary part of IE. Through this vulnerability, an attacker can remotely execute code to control a user's computer. IBM also claims that the vulnerability will affect all Windows systems since the release of IE 3.0 in 1996. However, until now, there is no evidence that the attacker has discovered or exploited the vulnerability.

However, according to statistics released by Net Application not long ago, the proportion of Windows XP users who have stopped security support is still as high as 17.18%. Microsoft also recommends that these users update to the newer Win7, Win8 or Win8.1 systems as soon as possible.
