Release Win8 Metro Edition Firefox Aurora Preview

Computer Store News: Mozilla launched the Modern UI version of Firefox Preview via the Aurora channel to launch a new round of testing activities.

The new version of Firefox uses the same Gecko rendering engine as the desktop version of Firefox, so it supports WebGL (3D graphics) and asm.js. It also allows developers to build high-performance C++ games and also supports HTML5 video hardware acceleration (including WebM and H.264).

The Metro version of Firefox supports touch and swipe gestures like other Windows 8 apps, as well as split screen, Firefox Syn and Windows sharing.

Mozilla announced the Firefox development plan for Modern UI as early as February 2012. In October 2012, the early experience version was released through the non-standard Nightly channel, and in February 2013, it entered the standard Nightly channel. Finally, Mozilla will release the official version of Firefox version of Firefox on January 21, 2014, which will be attributed to Firefox version 27.

You can download the preview experience through Mozilla's Aurora channel (click here), you must set Firefox as your default browser to use the Modern UI version of Firefox.
