Lenovo bypasses Microsoft to add a start menu for Windows 8 computers

Computer Store News: Windows 8 has been criticized by users for lack of a start menu. Before Microsoft took action, Lenovo had added a start menu for its own computer. Lenovo will pre-install SweetLabs' Pokki software on the computer, which can install the Windows Start menu for the operating system. Chester Ng, co-founder and chief marketing officer of SweetLabs, said that in the next few weeks, computers bundled with Pokki software will be on sale, starting with English-speaking countries and eventually reaching computers around the world.

SweetLabs also distributes software through its own website, and Windows 8 users have downloaded software 3 million times. According to Chester Ng, the average software per user opens 10 times a day. The software includes a program store that competes with the Microsoft Windows Store. Before Microsoft introduced Win8, there was news that Windows would give up the start button and start menu, and SweetLabs seized the opportunity to find an alternative. SweetLabs is an entrepreneurial company. The behind-the-scenes supporters are Intel and Google Ventures. When Windows 8 was launched in October last year, SweetLabs began offering Pokki software. At the Intel Capital conference, Chester Ng gave a speech, and then Lenovo representatives came to discuss cooperation. SweetLabs is currently negotiating similar transactions with other computer vendors. In addition to allowing users to better transition to Windows 8, Lenovo's collaboration with SweetLabs has another benefit. SweetLabs' Pokki software has a program store with a program recommendation location, and SweetLabs will share revenue with Lenovo. Chester Ng said: “We make the user experience better and help them make more money. ”
