three years ago

December 25 news, technology website WP7forum.ru last week on Microsoft WP design integration Director Eugene Gavrilov made an exclusive interview. Gavrilov joined Microsoft when it restarted its mobile platform strategy. It has been five years since he revealed some interesting details about WP8.

Gavrilov said that the current WP8 is what they wanted to launch three years ago, but it is impossible due to various constraints. So they adopted a more limited approach and relied on the advice and testing of WP7 users to assist with their development.

When talking about a new start screen that supports adjusting the size of the tile, he revealed that the resizable tile has always been one of WP's planning features, but due to technical limitations, there has been no suitable in previous versions. Time to implement.

He also mentioned quite directly that WP7 is a version that tests all of their ideas. The features we have seen in WP8 are actually planned from the beginning, but due to technical limitations and time. The constraint was not implemented. Gravrilov explained that at the time of the release of a system version, the functionality and design of the next version was actually planned so that the code work could be started immediately. This is why designers must start work six months or a whole year in advance.

Gravrilov also explained that Microsoft attaches great importance to the comments left by users on the User Voice page, and each comment is collected, evaluated and reviewed for technical feasibility.

He finally mentioned that WP7.8 may be the last version of the series, thus denying the recent rumors. But this depends on feedback from the Indian, Russian and Chinese markets on WP7.8 equipment.
