Run Android 4.1 Intel to complete dual-core Atom optimization

Computer store news: Intel's entry into the smart phone field has already begun to bear fruit. The emergence of Atom processors has made the smartphones more competitive in hardware. Recently, Intel said that a smartphone equipped with the Atom processor code-named Medfield can already run the Android 4.1 system. This also means that Intel has completed the migration of Android 4.1.

Mike Bell, General Manager of Intel's Mobile Communications Division, said in an interview with foreign media PCWorld at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco that the Medfield processor device is now fully operational with the Android 4.1 system. Many Intel employees and himself are using it. But support for Google Now is still being optimized.

At the same time, Bell also pointed out that today's mobile phone manufacturers and operators want to upgrade to the latest system still needs to wait for a long application process. He also did not announce which operators and handset manufacturers will get this upgrade.

The Medfield processor is dual-core and will be available later this year, and smartphones with this processor should be available early next year. Now some of Intel's chips are considered to consume more power than the ARM chip. Intel will further improve the process technology. Next year, it will release a chip codenamed Merrifield, which uses 22nm technology to make it faster and more power efficient. In 2014, chips will be introduced using the 14nm process technology.
