X86 applications are not compatible with ARM versions

On September 18th, Microsoft confirmed at the developer conference that the ARM version of Windows 8 will not support running x86 applications, and developers need to port the x86 version to the ARM architecture.

Windows department head Steven Sinofsky in a question and answer session to clarify that the new application developed for the Metro interface supports x86 and ARM architecture, but the existing x86 software will not run on ARM tablet and notebook. Programs developed for the X86 version of Windows 7 will continue to run on the X86 version of Windows 8. Sinofsky insists that Microsoft's main concern is that the X86 version of the application does not focus on power saving, while the Metro-style application is valued to reduce energy consumption. Microsoft also hinted at the launch of Metro-style Office office software.
