Ubuntu founder: "Enterprise Linux is not only Red Hat"

There is no doubt that Red Hat is indeed the choice of many companies considering Linux, but in recent years the situation has begun to reverse. In addition to Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server actively catching up, Ubuntu also recently intended to fight Red Hat. Ubuntu's founder, Mark Shuttleworth, recently published an article on his personal website titled "Ubuntu vs RHEL in enterprise computing." The article indicates that Ubuntu is better than Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in enterprise Linux. In order to support his argument, he also listed recent data from W3Techs.

Shuttleworth said that according to W3Thehs, Ubuntu has more users of web servers than RHEL since the summer of 2011. Ubuntu's enterprise market share is growing, while RHEL has a downward trend. Indeed, if you look at the analysis of W3Techs, in March 2012, 18.6% of the websites running on Linux used Ubuntu, and only 12.1% used RHEL. Of course, in the W3Techs report, in addition to Ubuntu and RHEL, other Linux versions are listed. It is well known that Ubuntu comes from Debian and CentOS comes from Red Hat. If you use their usage rate, will Ubuntu and RHEL be different?

The statistics of W3Techs show that Debian's usage rate is 30.1%, and CentOS is 28.7%. It can be seen that Ubuntu still outperforms RHEL. In fact, there are quite a few users who have used CentOS to set up a web server. Now they have switched to Ubuntu. In the past, they used RHEL and started to switch to Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. It seems that the situation of the three countries will continue for a while.
