How to clone WindowsXP with Ghost2003

Because the hard disk in Windows XP/2000 is not directly accessible, the previous Ghost (including Ghost 2002) series cannot be directly used in Windows XP/2000. Recently, Symantec released Ghost 2003. The version can be used directly in Windows XP/2000, and the function has also been greatly improved, which is more convenient to use.

The installation of Ghost 2003 is very simple. In Windows XP/2000, you should log in to the system as an administrator, execute the installation package (requires Windows Installer 2.0 support), do not use Chinese when filling in user names and units, and then All the way to "Next". Its interface is very similar to other Norton tools.

1. Partition Backup

Click “Backup” in the Ghost Basic module to pop up a wizard called Backup Wizard. The backup work is done under its leadership. Just click "Next" and you will see a dialog box. In the "Source" list of this dialog box, select the partition or hard disk we want to back up. “Destination” has two radio buttons for selecting whether to back up to “File” file or “Record able CD or DVD” disc. If you back up to “File” file, “Next” is to give the save location. And the file name. If you back up to the "Record able CD or DVD" disc, then "Next" asks us to select from the list to any CD-RW or DVD-RW connected to this computer, and then set backup parameters for backup.

2, partition backup restore

Click "Restore" in the Ghost Basic module, the restore work is done under the wizard of the Restore Wizard, the first is a prompt dialog box, the next is to We select the image file and press the "Browse..." button to select your backup file. Ghost 2003 will open this file and go to "Next", where we will make some important settings (Figure 2). If your restored partition is overwritten by Ghost 2003 software, then you will get a prompt to let you decide.

3, single file extraction

If you want to extract a part of the file from the image file, you need to use the image file browser Ghost Explorer. Click "Norton Ghost Explorer" in the Ghost Utilities module, open the image file in the "File" menu of Ghost Explorer, find the folder or file you want to extract, select the menu "File/Extract", select the save path, single Click the "Extract" button to extract the folder or file you selected.

Ghost 2003 has a lot of improvements in functionality, although it still has to be run under DOS for security, but this improvement of Norton Ghost 2003 really makes me feel better.
